The thesis deals with seed vigour testing of 10 selected poppy genotypes. The aim was to determine the tolerance of poppy seed to selected suboptimal abiotic factors such as drought and temperature, and to clarify its relationship with the ability to form the root system or the final product - poppy seed in the yield-forming process. The laboratory part of the experiment was carried out at the Department of Crop Science, Breeding and Plant Medicine at Mendel University in Brno. Observations and measurements were carried out in a field experiment in the municipality of Chvalíkovice in 2022 under the direction of OSEVA PRO s.r.o. The results confirmed the expectation that the number of germinated individuals decreased with increasing drought intensity. Significant differences between genotypes were found when testing for vigour. Differences in root system size and seed yield were also found. An interesting finding of this work was the data showing a higher number of germinated individuals at 10 °C compared to testing at 20 °C. A statistically significant relationship was found when poppy seed vigour data were correlated with poppy root system size. The more vigorous the seed, the more able the plant is to form a robust root system in the early stages of growth. However, this relationship is no longer clearly reflected in the yield of poppy. There is no conclusive relationship between the vigour of poppy seed and its subsequent seed yield. A myriad of external factors enter into the poppy seed yield process, so it cannot be said that a highly vigorous seed will produce a large quantity of quality poppy seed.

The aim of this thesis was to evaluate the effect of a combination of foliar application of sulphur together with a natural form of superabsorbent polymers (SAP) in the spring poppy variety (Papaver somniferum L.) Onyx. The effect of sulphur application in the form of ammonium thiosulphate and elemental sulphur, both without SAP and in combination with SAP, on crop yield was investigated in a field experiment on a total area of 1.25 ha in the locality of Bedihošt' municipality. The evaluation of the effect was mainly based on hectare yield, then germination and thousand seed weight (HTS) were monitored, the health status of the crop was evaluated and an economic evaluation was made both in terms of total cost and with respect to the application of sulphur and SAP alone. The best results were obtained in the plot where ammonium thiosulphate alone was applied, followed by the combination of ammonium thiosulphate with SAP. The results show a very strong correlation between yield and germination (r = 0.96). In contrast, the effect of SAP was not sufficiently demonstrated in this work. The overall economic evaluation when all costs were included was positive only for the application of ammonium thiosulphate without SAP, all other options were loss making. In a direct comparison of the variants with the calculation of only the effect of sulphur and SAP, the application of ammonium thiosulphate without SAP and with SAP came out positive, while elemental sulphur with SAP and without SAP came out negative.
Effect of sowing way on production parameters of spring poppy

This diploma thesis compares the influence of different methods of poppy seeding on its production and quality parameters. The evaluation was based on a literature search and an operational trial, where the spring poppy variety MS Harlekýn was sown in different ways. The final results did not show a significant difference in poppy parameters between sowing with harrows and without harrows. Poppy sown with harrows achieved a real yield of 1.34 t/ha, poppy sown without harrows achieved a real yield of 1.12 t/ha. In the conclusion, findings and recommendations based on the results of the experiment are summarized.
Evaluation of yield components and seed quality for spring and winter poppy

This bachelor thesis compares the cultivation of spring and winter forms of poppy. The aim was to evaluate their yield elements and seed quality. The evaluation was based on a literature search and an operational experiment where three varieties of poppy were observed - the winter variety Zeno 2002 and two spring varieties MS Harlequin and Maraton.
Effect of year on field germinability of opium poppy seeds

The aim of this thesis was to perform an experiment with opium poppy control and drought stressed plants. Gained seeds were tested for germinability in normal conditions and during simulated drought stress induced with PEG 6000. It was found plants for seed production provides less seeds with lower quality, but the vigour and germinability of these seeds are better. In this thesis I also tested the method of surface plasmon resonance as potentialy suitable method for dehydrin accumulation analysis. I managed to verify method for termostable proteins isolation and at the same time I confirmed, the SPR method is potentially usefull method for dehydrin accumulation analysis in opium poppy seedling plants.

The aim of this thesis was to evaluate the weed infestation of chosen crops on lands of Agrospol a. d., Knínice. The evaluation was carried out in growths of corn, sunflower and opium poppy. The weed infestation was processed by canonical correspondence analysis (CCA). Species as Equisetum arvense, Echinochloa crus-galli, Thlaspi arvense, Veronica persica, etc. were identified in corn. Species Echinochloa crus-galli, Amaranthus sp., Avena fatua, etc. were found in sunflower. Weeds as Symphytum officinale, Equisetum arvense, Chenopodium album, Viola arvensis, etc. occurred in opium poppy.

This bachelor thesis deals with actual weeding of selected field crops in the beet pro-duction area. Weed measurements were carried out at Agra Velký Týnec farm. Weed infestation was assessed by the numerical method - the number of individuals per 1 m2. Monitoring was carried out in winter wheat, oilseed rape, spring barley, poppy seed, alfalfa and maize. The most common weed species were Tripleurospermum ino-dorum, Capsella bursa-pastoris, Papaver rhoeas, Chenopodium album, Avena fatua, Cirsium arvense, Euphorbia helioscopia, Veronica persica.
